Cosmetics
Cosmetics are products designed to enhance or alter the appearance of the face and body. The primary purpose of cosmetics is to improve beauty and personal care, although some products also offer skincare benefits.
1. Face
- Primer – To create a smooth base, helping makeup to apply more evenly and last longer.
- Setting spray – Used to keep makeup in place throughout the day.
- Concealer – Used to cover blemishes, dark circles and imperfections.
- Foundation – Provides an even skin tone and can come in various forms, including liquid, cream, powder and stick.
- Blusher – Adds color to the cheeks and can be found in powder, cream or liquid forms.
- Contour – Used to define and shape the face, enhancing its natural structure.
- Bronzer – Adds warmth and a sun-kissed look to the skin, often used to contour.
- Highlighter – Used to accentuate certain areas of the face, giving a radiant and glowing effect.
- BB Cream/CC Cream – Multi-functional products that combine skincare and makeup benefits, offering coverage, hydration and sometimes sun protection.
- Face powder – Helps to set makeup, control shine and provide a smooth finish to the skin.
2. Eyes
- Mascara – Applied to the lashes to lengthen, darken and volumize them, making the eyes appear more defined and vibrant.
- Eyeliner – Used to define the eyes and can be applied along the upper and lower lash lines.
- Eyeshadow – A collection of coordinating eyeshadows shades, often organized into complementary colors for easy application.
- Eyebrows – Include pencils, powders, gels and pomades to shape and fill in eyebrows, enhancing the natural appearance.
3. Lips
- Lip cream – Offers the rich, creamy texture of a lipstick while providing the hydrating benefits of a lip balm.
- Lip gloss – Provides a shiny, may be sheer or pigmented and can be used alone or over lipstick.
- Lip balm – Moisturizes and protect lips, often contains nourishing ingredients and may include SPF.
- Lip matte – Refers to a type of lip products that has a flat and non-shiny finish.
- Lip stain – Offers a lightweight wash of color that is often long-lasting, provides a more natural look.
- Lip plumper – Formulated to temporarily enhance the fullness of lips, usually containing ingredients that create tingling sensation.
- Lip liner – A pencil used to define the lips, preventing lipstick from feathering and enhancing shape.
